Early in the morning on Tuesday, September 7th, fire and rescue crews were called to Ruppert Landscaping after multiple reports of a blast at one of the company’s administrative buildings. The landscaping company operated its business out of a historic Victorian-inspired building. This historic home dates back to the 19th century and is part of Montgomery County’s plan for historic preservation. Unfortunately, the blast caused significant structural damage to the landmark building. Officials say it will most likely need to be demolished
According to the local fire chief, the historic house uses a propane tank as a fuel source, and a resident reported a gas leak to the utility company just hours before the explosion. Officials are still working to identify the cause of the blast. The propane explosion tore through the building, trapping one person beneath debris and injuring two others. One person was rescued from inside the collapsed structure and evacuated by a medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries. Two people who were standing outside the building were also injured in the blast. One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, while the other declined additional treatment.
What to Do if You’re Injured in an Accident
Catastrophic accidents like these are traumatizing and can lead to life-altering injuries. If you are hurt in an accident, it is crucial that you seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Some severe injuries, such as damage to the brain or spinal cord, are not detectable right away. So, you should seek treatment immediately. Depending on the accident, it may be beneficial to collect any relevant evidence. Evidence such as medical records, police reports, and witness statements can help build a personal injury case.
